Feedback from Pitch

We created a pitch that showed three possible ideas for our thriller opening and other details on location, credits and production name. We presented our pitch to the class and encouraged them to give feedback so that we could improve and develop our ideas further. This was some of the feedback we received:

- Consider the music and sound of the piece. Think about whether we plan to create some music for the opening or to use different sounds to create tension. We said that we think this would be important as we plan to have very little dialogue, so tense music or sounds would help to build tension. Perhaps sounds would be a better idea because I think that the collection of sounds in 'Seven' is very effective in creating tension, and I find this quite an inspiring opening to a film, so I would really like to try something like this.

- The Red Hall is a very good location to have for the film. It is old-fashioned and very large so would be an ideal eerie location for a thriller opening. It is also very original as no-one has chosen to film at the Hall before.

- The mystery of idea two is good. The fact that it is a sort of spy thriller is quite different because many thrillers are psychological and this one is not that type. To improve idea two more details can be given about why the male character is in this room, like details about the story beforehand.

- Idea three is the most developed of the ideas. People liked the ideas of the props like the doll, the newspaper clippings etc. An improvement for this idea was to consider the lighting. The initial idea was to have candles lighting the room but someone pointed out that even though this can look affective, it can be difficult to see what is happening because of the lack of light when on screen.
